5 Last-Minute Halloween Costumes You Can Actually Pull Together

5 Last-Minute Halloween Costumes You Can Actually Pull Together

Halloween has a way of sneaking up on you.

One minute you have weeks to figure out a costume. The next, you have plans this weekend and approximately nothing prepared.

The good news is that the best last-minute costumes usually start with things you already own. A black set. Something red. A fitted white top. A pair of shorts. A good pair of boots.

Then you add one or two obvious accessories and suddenly it looks like you planned it.

Here are five easy ones.

1. Boxer

This one is almost too easy if you already own activewear.

Start with a bra and shorts set (we went with the ruche bra and captivate shorts), then add hand wraps, boxing gloves if you have them, high socks, sneakers, and a robe over top.

A slick ponytail or braids makes the whole thing feel more intentional, and a little smudged makeup can take it from “gym outfit” to actual costume very quickly.

The best part is that you can still move, dance, and exist normally all night.

2. Playboy Bunny

A classic for a reason.

Black is the easiest base here. Think black V cuts (for the sexy effect), a little ruche bra, then add bunny ears, a bow tie, gloves, maybe even tights, and heels or boots.

The accessories do most of the work, which makes this one ideal if you are planning it at the last possible second.

Keep the outfit itself simple and polished, and let the ears make the reference obvious.

3. Cat

The ultimate emergency costume.

If you own black, you can be a cat.

Black leggings, black shorts, or maybe the black romper, whatever feels best. Add cat ears, a little eyeliner nose and whiskers, and you are done.

You can make it cute, sexy, minimal, or full costume depending on how much effort you feel like giving it.

This is the one for the girl who remembered Halloween at 6 PM.

4. Devil & Angel

This one works equally well solo or as a duo.

If you are going angel, start with a white base like leggings and a bra and add wings, a halo, soft shimmer, and whatever shoes make sense for the rest of the outfit.

If you are going devil, do the same thing in a red matching set and add horns, a darker lip, or a pitchfork if you want to fully commit.

If you and your friend are as Type B as the girl writing this is (whoops), this is for you. One in white. One in red. Done.

It is probably one of the easiest duo costumes to pull together at the last minute, and it still reads immediately.

5. Lara Croft

This one might be our favourite because we kind of have the most perfect colors for this..

Start with a fitted Cypress tee + Mocha shorts. The earthy colour combination already does most of the Lara Croft work for you.

Then add a utility belt, combat boots, tall socks if you want them, and some weapons. Add some dirt to your face and put your hair in braids for the added effect.

It is practical, recognizable, and very easy to recreate without buying a full costume.

The Real Last-Minute Rule

You do not need an elaborate costume to look like you tried.

Pick a strong base outfit, add one or two accessories that make the idea obvious, and stop there.

Boxer needs a robe and some gloves or straps. Bunny needs ears. Cat needs whiskers. Devil needs horns. Angel needs wings.

Everything else is optional.

Which is exactly how last-minute Halloween should be.
