Things We're Crushing On This Week
August (omg !!!) is fully here and she is not playing around. We're not going to talk about how summer is going just as fast as my latest situationship (which is to say: blink and it's over), we're going to focus on the positives.
We're talking long days, warm nights, the kind of weather that makes you want to be outside for every possible second, and also somehow makes you train harder because the energy just hits different in summer. We only have so many weeks of constant sunshine!!!
And since I don't have an active human crush right now, here's our weekly pile of small joys we're crushing on this week:
1. Cold Brew at Home
Hear us out. $8 iced coffees four times a week add up to a second gym membership, and we're not doing it anymore (...okay we're not doing it EVERY DAY anymore).
Cold brew at home is embarrassingly easy, coarse ground coffee, cold water, 12 hours in the fridge, done. It tastes better than most café versions, you can make it exactly as strong as you want, and you feel unreasonably accomplished every single morning when you pour it over ice and walk out the door.
This is the summer habit we're not giving up come September.
2. The Captivate Romper in Mocha 🤎
I know, I know. I work here and I'm biased. But genuinely, the Mocha Romper has been living rent free in our heads since the launch and we refuse to pretend otherwise. And also, I'm wearing it today so talk about top of mind!
There's something about that warm, rich brown tone that makes every skin tone look incredible, and the one-piece situation means you walk in looking completely put together with zero effort involved. No matching. No waistband adjusting. Just on and go.
It's the summer uniform you didn't know you needed (but we did) and now can't train without. Open strappy back, scrunch bum seam, squat-proof, what doesn't she do.
3. Training Outside While We Still Can ☀️
There are approximately six weeks left of weather that makes outdoor training feel like a treat rather than a challenge, and we are using every single one of them.
Whether that's an early morning run before the heat kicks in, a park workout with nothing but bodyweight and good music, or just walking the long way home from the gym instead of driving, getting outside while it's warm is the assignment. Your vitamin D levels and your mental health will both thank you.
The 6pm walk that turns into two hours also still counts. It will always count.
4. Saying No to Plans You Don't Actually Want to Go To
Summer is peak social obligation season, weddings, birthdays, rooftop things, cottage weekends you committed to in March when it seemed far away. And while all of those things can be wonderful, sometimes you just don't want to go.
This month we're practicing the art of the gracious decline. "I can't make it but I hope you have the best time" is a complete sentence. Your time and energy are finite. Protecting them isn't antisocial, it's survival.
Go to the things you actually want to go to. Let the rest go without guilt.

5. The Post-Workout Glow That Hits Different in Summer
You know the one. After a really good session in July, you walk out into warm air and sunshine, slightly damp, heart rate just starting to come down, and you feel like an absolute force of nature.
It's not just endorphins, though it's definitely also endorphins. It's the combination of having done the thing, the warmth on your skin, the light, the general feeling of summer existing around you while you exist in it. Also doesn't hurt that at this point, your summer tan is likely PEAKING.
This feeling is available to you multiple times a week for free. We think it's one of the best things going. Don't waste the season.

That's our August list. Small stuff, big energy, same as always.
xx
