Things We're Crushing On This Week

Things We're Crushing On This Week

There are two types of people in this world:

People who think life is just an endless cycle of laundry and dirty dishes, and people who know that if life is an endless cycle of laundry and dirty dishes that it also means that life is an endless cycle of warm clean clothes and home cooked meals.

We're the latter - call us the romantics. 🤍

And as the self proclaimed authority on how to romanticize the little things in life, we put together a little list to help us make sure we're not saving the joys of life for last.

Here's what we're crushing on this week:

1. Leaving The House Earlier Than We Need To

Not because we’re so organized or hyper-productive (Type B girlies unite), but because turning a twenty minute errand into a two hour side quest is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Duh!

Walk slower.

Get a coffee. Add cinnamon.

Listen to music.

Smile at people on the street!

This is all about giving yourself time in the day to find magic in the mundane. Not enough of us are incorporating whimsy into our lives and it SHOWS.

2. Wearing The Workout Set Even When the Workout Is a TBD

Sometimes the Pilates class happens. But sometimes, the workout is:

  • coffee

  • grocery store

  • hot girl walking over the weekend debrief

  • buying things you didn’t need

  • emotional processing

They all count. And all experiences are significantly better when your outfit is cuter. And both are significantly better when your outfit is cuter. We don't make the rules.

3. The Post-Workout Shower

Objectively, it's a simple shower. In actuality it's so much more than that. Its a full body reset, we're talking about the everything shower. Double shampoo, body oil, the works - you know the drill.

Bonus points if:

  • hair mask is in

  • oversized hoodie is on

  • fresh sheets on your bed

  • absolutely nowhere to be with endless episodes of a show on deck - we're all watching Off-Campus right now, yeah?

4. Buying Flowers While Grocery Shopping

Just do it. Buy yourself the flowers. Not for an occasion, not because anyone is coming over, just because you walked past them and they're pretty and you deserve them. I will die on the hill that too many of us are saving the good stuff for later and for why? We have to go for it, now!

Is buying the flowers going to change our entire perspective and make us feel like we have our lives together? Not entirely. BUT, they're pretty and that is reason enough. Wanting them is the reason. That totally counts.

Remember what I said about whimsy???

5. Getting sh*t done, now!

How many times have you said to yourself: “I’ll start on Monday.” And then Monday happens and you're not in the mood, or you slept in, or it's raining, or God forbid it's a full moon. And now Monday becomes next week becomes next month etc...

I'll put my hand up and say I do this 14 times a day, which is why when I truly want to or have to get something done, I give myself a 3, 2, 1, ACT NOW. If you say to yourself OUT LOUD 3, 2, 1, ACT NOW - you HAVE to do whatever it is you’re set out to. Not totally sure of the science behind it (if any LOL) but something about doing this interrupts the brain’s ability to fall into decision paralysis and just get to whatever it is I'm doing. Whether that’s emptying the dishwasher, finally texting that guy back I've been putting off since last weekend, or a full reinvention of my personal style at 4pm on a Tuesday.

This is your reminder that romanticizing your life doesn't require

  • more money

  • perfect routines

  • waking up at 5am

  • becoming a completely different person

More often it looks like:

Walking slower. Wearing the cute outfit. Facetiming a friend. Going for drinks with the girls on Friday. Buying the flowers. Lighting the candle. Walking on the sunny side of the street. Small joys. Big energy. 3, 2, 1, ACT NOW.

See you next week.
